Where can I get extensive help on setting up a wireless access point? We're trying to create a wireless "mesh" to cover a campus. I need to know more about penetration issues (walls, trees, etc). Does it reduce the access point range or does it cut it off. If we're using a 100m range AP, can we put them 50m apart to compensate for a building in between? And also about electrical interference (we're thinking of mounting the access points on electric poles). Thanks.
How can I set up my computer as a wireless access point without a wireless router? I'd like to set up a wireless network in my house without replacing my wired router... I should be able to do this by sharing one of the computers' internet connection by setting it up as an access point, right? I was hoping to go the USB route, but nothing big (i.e., just a small usb stick), and nothing too expensive. The Nintendo USB WiFi adapter is restricted to the Wii and the DS; I want something that would allow a laptop as well. Any recommendations?
Configure Wireless Access Point without a crossover cable? My office is under a major renovation project and various wireless access points have been installed and mounted to the ceiling. They will not be hooked to the existing LAN for another month or two. Right now they only have electric. I would like to configure them, but it seems my only option is to set up my laptop on a ladder and run a crossover cable to the unit to configure it. That's a pain. How can I do the same thing wirelessly? I can make a connection wirelessly (with 'limited connectivity'), but I can't browse to the access point's IP address wirelessly, unless I use a crossover cable. Any ideas?

Can a wireless access point be used to amplify the existing wireless signal? There are no available Ethernet ports nearby. I am interested in extending by existing 802.11 B/G/N. Repeaters/Antennas/Amplifiers will not work because there are currently not compatible with 802.11-n. Can I configure an access point designed for N to amplify a signal without being connected to an Ethernet port? Because of the location, I do not plan on running any wires from my switch.
