- Here's something that worked great for me, and much easier: www.freeantennas.com
- I've seen that "free antennas" site, very useful, but first try just a couple feet of a single copper wire attached to the pole of your existing antenna. UHF also likes grid-like antennas - I got 26 analog and 46 digital TV stations with just a wire attached to the wrought-iron security window covering in my living room, though it does have the advantage of a clear shot to Mt. Wilson, location of practically every broadcast station antenna in the Los Angeles area. .
- No. If you solder 3 antennas together to the same piece of coax you may actually get a worse signal. There are several reasons for this. First, you've totally screwed up the impedance by connecting 3 antennas in parallel. Second, it's possible that the antenna patterns interfere with each other and lower the overall gain of the combined antenna. Third, the amplitude and phase of the signal output from one antenna may combine destructively with the output signal from the other antenna - could also combine in-phase but how often does something good happen from random goofing around? If you want a stronger signal, you need a better antenna, not 3 antennas soldered together.
