  1. This WAP is not really designed for that.
  2. yep answer mine plz?? http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;_ylt=Aj7L7iLJF_soncBQF1IIFY7sy6IX;_ylv=3?qid=20090629081905AA319aH
  3. Probably not a good idea. At the frequencies routers use, loss in a transmission line is very high. You'd be better off to run an Ethernet line to the other floor and install a second access point there.
  4. Extending the antenna will not work. Three possibilities: 1) Put the router as high as possible. You may find that it the PCs down below will pick it up anyway if it is on the top storey (this works in my house). 2) Run a network cable upstairs (you were going to run an antenna cable anyway) and get a simple Wireless Access Point (UK prices from £20 or less, US $54 down to $26 at first glance, you can probably find cheaper ones). N.B. You may need the upstairs one on a different channel. 3) Get a "wireless extender" such as a Linksys WRE54G - this will "pick up" the signal from the router and boost it out : (UK page, but US will have them too) http://www.amazon.co.uk/Linksys-Cisco-WRE54G-Wireless-G-Expander/dp/B0007SQG5S/ref=pd_cp_ce_3 You CAN get a high gain antenna for this; however it will probably work without. BEWARE - They are an absolute pig to set up if you try to follow Linksys's instructions, read the first comment on the link above to find out how to do it properly.
  5. putting an extra antenna on a router can damage the router as the antennas are tuned to the frequency and using 2 will upset this tuning and damage it, better to run an ethernet cable to the other floor or just get a high gain router antenna and replace the original one with this, it should boost the signal without damaging the router
  6. It is important to realize that an antenna is not the equivalent of a wireless extension cord. Adding a larger antenna or extending the wire lead to an antenna will not necessarily extend your range. Properly made antennas are "tuned" for the frequency they are meant to transmit or receive, so changing the shape or the length of wire (which also changes the "shape and size" of the antenna) may make your router less efficient. If you want to extend your wireless range you can do one of the following.... Install a wireless repeater or range extender (not cheap) install a second router wired to the first and put it on your second floor (cheaper but complicated) Experiment with 802.11draft N wireless which has greater range
